Party leader, analysts question delay in allowing 18-year-olds to vote

PETALING JAYA: A party leader and two analysts have criticised Dewan Negara president Rais Yatim’s statement that it is impractical to allow 18-year-olds to vote for now, saying no one knows when the elections are going to be held and “big data” can easily gather information on those eligible to vote.

They were commenting on Rais’ statement that it is not practical to lower the voting age from 21 to 18 for now because of time-consuming obstructions faced by the relevant agencies in implementing it.
